“The sane man is normal not because he is just like everyone else but because he is superior to the lunatic; the healthy man is normal because he is superior to the cripple.”

Commentary on the Master’s Message
“It happens, I think, in almost our social set up also. The existence of the father, mother, wife and children are taken for granted. By the corresponding parties, they are taken for granted. We think that they have got to be there, they are there. What is there about it?
Instead of expressing it with a certain amount of love, a certain amount of care, a certain amount of concern. When your heart is replaced by divinity is residing, it is your bounden duty to keep your heart pure. So that purity is not affected. So that purity is not polluted.
So the cleansing of your heart, to keep it with love and devotion to the other primary duty that he talks about. All other duties are incidental duties. There is only one duty that is primary, that is realization of God. When do you know that? When do you do that?
When you recognize him already in your heart. He is there. Do you recognize it? It is very much with you. Are you aware of it?
This is the question. And when you are aware of his existence, then automatically you will have an attitude of love and devotion towards. He is your master who is descending in your heart and you dare not pollute your heart. Hatred has no place near us. And that is the reason why I've been telling people when they talk something against others, I always say, please don't do that because what is happening there is you are hurting God who is inside.
You are damaging his image. It's not right. Your individual creation may be such that you can do all such things. But when you think about him and he's expressing himself through you, which is what we talked about in the first commandment, then you dare not think in terms of hatred, ill will, jealousy, all these things have no place. They can not find a place. Sadhaka can not afford to, not because it is not conducive to meditation or mental peace, surely not, that is incidental, to get peace of mind when you love others, that is incidental benefit. But what is your primary duty is never to lose purity, lest divinity inside is marred, is tarnished.”

“Our mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it is open. Closed minds do not realize the Truth and it is only the disciplined mind that can choose correct and proper action on any given situation. I with your permission would like to bring to your kind attention some passages from the scriptures and noble souls to stress the point.
i) When one lacks discrimination And his mind is undisciplined, the senses Run hither and thither like wild horses. But they obey the rein like trained horses When one has discrimination and has made The mind one-pointed. Those who lack Discrimination, with little control Over their thoughts and far from pure, Reach not the pure state of immortality But wander from death to death; but those Who have discrimination, with a balanced mind And a pure heart, reach journey's end, Never again to fall into the jaws of death. With a discriminating intellect As charioteer and a trained mind as reins, They attain the supreme goal of life To be united with the Lord of Love.
(Katha Upanishad)
ii) Those who act without thought of personal Profit and lead a well-disciplined life Discover in course of time the divine principle That all forms of life are one. Those who work in the service of the Lord Are freed from the law of karma
(-Shvetashvatara Up)
iii) Restraint with the eye is good, good is restraint with the ear. Restraint with the nose is good, good is restraint with the tongue. Restraint with the body is good, good is restraint with speech. Restraint with the heart is good, good is restraint everywhere. A monk everywhere restrained is released from all suffering & stress
(Dhammapada.)”
